Southern End Community Association (SECA)
Our mission is to create recreational opportunities for local residents of Southern Lancaster County by providing high value programs for children and adults. Your gifts allow us to offer these opportunities locally while also helping us keep the activities fees minimal and widely available to all families. Our organization is the center of the summer community with our outdoor pool and community park. We offer swim lessons, water aerobics, a swim team, and Lifeguard courses at the pool. While also hosting many summer camps (Day, Art, Tennis, Lacrosse, & more), sports leagues, youth sports and pre-school programs, exercise, and American Red Cross Training Classes.
We provide year round recreational activities for all ages. We maintain a 15-acre community park including: fishing pond, playground & kids area, outdoor pool, inline hockey rink, skateboard & freestyle bike park, basketball, beach volleyball & pickleball courts. Additionally, camps, trips, leagues, exercise, and educational classes.
The SECA Board of Directors maintains direct oversight of all operations. The 2021 Officers and Board of Directors are listed below.
Barb Tollinger, President
Abee Battiste, Tawn Battiste, Carol Gibson, Chad McDowell, Susan Noel, Gretchen Plechner and Laura Walker.
We would like to recognize our Board President, Barb Tollinger!
Barb is a lifetime resident of southern Lancaster county. A 1968 Solanco graduate, she and her husband of 42 years, Leo, have 4 children and 5 grandchildren. Barb owned and taught the Southern Belles Majorette Corps and retired with over 50 years of twirling! She also served as Quarryville Borough Secretary-Treasurer for 25 years. In June, she retired from Normandeau Associates with 48 years of service as a Project Administrator.
After hearing rumors of SECA's plans for the swimming pool-(remodel, sell or tear down), Barb decided to inquire about what she could do to help save the pool that she has so many fond childhood memories of. Since spring of 2016, Barb has served as Board Member, Vice President and now she is beginning her second year as President.
Being the president of a non-profit organization is not an easy chair position. It's a tedious job with much to do, lots of time spent, hard decisions to be made, work to be done... never a dull moment! Yet Barb tirelessly serves with much love for our community. She tells us that she is awfully glad to have been given the opportunity to serve on this board, this community and the Association. She is a huge supporter and one of our biggest cheerleaders!
Thank you, Barb!
